Illuminating Central Indiana Since 1945

a leading midwest electrical construction firm

In light of current health-related concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), Barth Electric is taking the necessary steps to ensure that we remain productive and responsive throughout this situation by monitoring the guidelines as recommended by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Our top priority is, and always will be, the health and safety of our employees and customers.

In the old days people would get their meat directly from the butcher shop and would often buy a large portion of the cow or hog which the shop would store in their lockers for you. When you needed some meat the butcher shop would cut the selection you wanted for the day and deliver it directly to you. But by the mid 1940’s most people had acquired a modern convenience we call a refrigerator to store their meat and other goods. This made the business of having meat storage and delivery pretty much obsolete.

In the fall of 1945, George Michael Barth took on the electrical remodeling of a butcher shop and meat locker business in Acton, Indiana. For payment of his efforts, George accepted a 1938 International panel truck and this was the beginning of a new company called Barth Electric.

Now in 2020, we are proud to be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the company my grandfather started.
